It is time to take weight loss seriously

This is the Review of Dr Oz – The 10 Commandments of Weight Loss. This show was very interesting. These steps are very effective and easy to implement into your daily life.

1. Thous shalt  not be blissfully unaware of  weight gain.
A crucial step is not to gain more weight before you start losing.  Don’t use ploys to prevent you from facing up to your weight gain   Don’t avoid looking in the mirror when you are naked?  Wearing baggy and stretchy clothes allows you to gain weight in blissful  unawareness.  Monitor your weight actively and listen to the snugness of your clothes.

2.  Thous shalt burn the bridge behind you.
Don’t keep snacks around the house and don’t keep clothes that you wore when you were heavier.  Don’t allow yourself to relapse without consequences but most import thing is don’t hedge your bets on success.

3. Thous shalt buy smaller plates and bowls.
The larger the plate the more food that can fit on it.   And regardless the size of the plate limit food to 1 and 1/4 inches high and 1 3/4 inches  from the edge of the plate.

4. Thous shalt not snack.
Your best defence is not putting snacks in your shopping cart at the supermarket and failing that give them away.  Don’t  open the cupboard or fridge in between meals.   Browsing leads to snacking.

5.  Thou shalt chew and then chew some more.
Chewing not only helps break down the food and lets the enzymes in the mouth do their job more effectively, but it increases your pleasure and the duration of the taste of food you do eat while giving you a feeling of  satisfaction.

6. Thous shalt not eat late in front of the TV.

Eating in front of the TV at night  is like being out at 2 AM in the morning — nothing good comes of it.   The food you eat is not likely to be nutritious  and more often not will come out of big bag where there is no portion control.  Besides, the more time you give yourself to digest your food before you go to bed the better off you are.

7. Thou shalt not eat other people’s food
Stealing french fries off someone else’s mean or sharing someone else’s snack can add up in calories in no time flat and defeat your whole weight loss efforts.

8. Thous shalt give your small bills and change to Charity.
Not only giving to charity will provide you with good karma you won’t have them to plug into the vending machine or fork them over for snacks at the gas station or store.

9. Thou shalt understand that red meat and saturated Fats are not your friend.

Not only do they increase the risk of heart disease, but red meat has higher levels of saturated fat than chicken and seafood.  Saturated fat not only aggravates weight gain it is unhealthy increasing your risk significantly for heart disease and cancer.

10.  Thou shalt not eat on the run or standing up.
Making eating a proper formal ritual where you are sitting down so you can enjoy it yet limit what you are eating while at the same time optimizing digestion.  It also enables proper chewing (see  number 7)
